Sunnah (Arabic: سَنَةٌ) is an Arabic word meaning "tradition" or "way." For Muslims, it means "the way of the prophet." The Sunnites try to follow Muhammad's words, actions, and teachings.

Most Muslims learn about the Sunnah by studying thousands of stories, called hadith, about Muhammad, his family, and his first followers. However, some Muslims, such as Ahl al-Kalam and Mu'tazilites, have distinguished between the Sunnah and hadiths and generally do not regard the hadiths as being part of the sunnah of Muhammad.[1][2][3]
