Taft (formerly Moron, Moro, and Siding Number Two) is a city in the edge of the San Joaquin Valley, in Kern County, California. Taft is located 32 miles (51 km) west-southwest of Bakersfield. The population was 8,546 at the 2020 census.[1] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.1 square miles (39.1 km2).

History

It was named for President William H. Taft in 1909.[2]
