Thomas Francis Eagleton (September 4, 1929 – March 4, 2007) was an American politician.
Eagleton was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He studied at Harvard Law School and at Amherst College.
He served as a United States senator from Missouri. He served as senator from 1968 to 1987. He was a member of the Democratic Party.
Eagleton was a running mate for George McGovern during the 1972 United States presidential campaign. However, Eagleton soon withdrew from the ticker after Robert Boyd reported that Eagleton suffered from psychiatric problems and undergone three shock treatments.[1]
Eagleton then ran for President of the United States in 1984, but lost the primary to Walter Mondale.
In 2007, Eagleton died in St. Louis, Missouri from heart and respiratory failure, aged 77.
