Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala (born 13 January 1939) is an Indian politician. He was the Governor of Karnataka [1] from September 2014 to July 2021.[2]

Before becoming Governor, Vala was a leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He worked in Gujarat politics for many years. He served as a Member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly for several terms and held important positions in the state government.

He was the Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from 2012 to 2014. He also worked as a Finance Minister in the Gujarat government when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister.

Vala is known for being loyal to his party and for his long public service career. As Governor of Karnataka, [3] [4] he performed duties such as opening the state assembly, approving state laws, and overseeing government changes when needed.

He was born in Rajkot, in the Indian state of Gujarat. Before joining politics, he studied science and became a professional lawyer.
