Val Edward Kilmer (December 31, 1959 – April 1, 2025) was an American actor, best known for his roles in Top Gun, Tombstone, The Doors, Heat and Batman Forever. He was married to Joanne Whalley from 1988 until they divorced in 1996. The couple had a daughter and son.

Health and death
In January 2015, aged 55, Kilmer was hospitalized for massive bleeding in his throat.[1] In December 2017, aged 57, Kilmer said he had a "two-year battle with throat cancer...and a procedure on his trachea has reduced his voice to a rasp and rendered him short of breath."[2]
Kilmer died on April 1, 2025 from pneumonia caused by respiratory failure and squamous-cell carcinoma of the throat in Los Angeles, California at the age of 65.[3]
