Windows Server 2022 is the 10th versions of Windows Server operating system developed by Microsoft. It was announced at the Microsoft Build 2021 event on January 5, 2021. It was released worldwide on August 18, 2021, and is the successor of Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019. The next succesor is Windows Server 2025 was announced on January 26, 2024, and was released on November 1, 2024.[1]

History
In January 2021, Microsoft announced Windows Server 2022 would be released at the beginning of 2021. Microsoft introduced Windows Server 2022 on March 2, 2021, and released it worldwide on August 18, 2021. It is the last version of Windows Server to be based on Windows 10.
