Özel hayatı ve Ölümü
Flaherty 1974 yılında Judith Dagley ile evlendi ve bu evlilikten bir kızı ve bir oğlu oldu. 1996 yılında Dagley'den boşandı. Flaherty'nin iki erkek kardeşi Paul ve Dave'de kendisi gibi komedi yazarıdır.
1 Nisan 2024 tarihinde geçirdiği kısa süreli bir hastalığın sonucu 82 yaşında Toronto'da hayatını kaybetti.[1][2]
