Electron（原名為Atom Shell^[7]）是GitHub開發的一個開源框架。^[8]它通過使用Node.js（作為後端）和Chromium的彩現引擎（作為前端）完成跨平台的桌面GUI 應用程式的開發。Electron現已被多個開源Web應用程式用於前端與後端的開發，著名專案包括GitHub的Atom和微軟的Visual Studio Code。^[9]^[10]

一個基礎的Electron包含三個檔案：package.json（元資料）、main.js（代碼）和index.html（圖形化使用者介面）。框架由Electron可執行檔（Windows中為electron.exe、macOS中為electron.app、Linux中為electron）提供。開發者可以自行添加標誌、自訂圖示、重新命名或編輯Electron可執行檔。

歷史

2013年4月11日，Electron以Atom Shell為名起步。^[11]
2014年5月6日，Atom以及Atom Shell以MIT授權條款開源。^[12]
2015年4月17日，Atom Shell改名為Electron。^[13]
2016年5月11日，1.0版本釋出。^[14]
2016年5月20日，允許向Mac應用商店提交軟體套件。^[15]^[16]^[17]^[18]
2016年8月2日，支援Windows商店。^[19]^[20]
