紫金牛科（學名：Myrsinaceae）曾是杜鵑花目下的一科，包括35屬約1000餘種，廣泛分布在全球溫帶和熱帶地區，最北達西伯利亞、歐洲、日本和墨西哥，最南到南非、紐西蘭和南美洲。中國有10屬，約200餘種，主要分布在南方各省。
本科植物大部分為中等喬木和灌木，也有部分種類為藤本或草本，葉常綠，革質，單葉互生，稀對生，無托葉，常有油腺斑點；花兩性或單性，4－5數，花瓣合生，稀離生，常有腺點；果實是核果或漿果，稀為蒴果。
本科植物有些供觀賞用，有些可以入藥。紫金牛（Ardisia japonica）是重要的中藥。
1981年的克朗奎斯特分類法將其列入報春花目，1998年根據基因親緣關係分類的APG 分類法將其合併到杜鵑花目。2009年的APG III則不再認可紫金牛科，而將其併入報春花科。
