E5型柴油機車是美國通用汽車電氣動力分部（GM-EMD）為芝加哥，伯靈頓和昆西鐵路及其子公司（科羅拉多和南方鐵路（英語：Colorado and Southern Railway）、沃思堡和丹佛鐵路（英語：Fort Worth and Denver Railway））設計製造的一款幹線客運柴油機車。除了車體外部採用銀色的不鏽鋼板之外，其他部分與E4型柴油機車完全相同。
