Herbert Brenon (13 de xineru de 1880, Dublín – 21 de xunu de 1958, Los Angeles) foi un actor, direutor de cine, guionista, escritor, actor de cine y productor de cine de República d'Irlanda y Estaos Xuníos. La so carrera trescurrió en bona parte nos años del cine mudu.

Biografía

El so nome completu yera Alexander Herbert Reginald St. John Brenon, y nació en Dublín, Irlanda. Los sos padres yeren Edward St. John Brenon, un escritor y críticu teatral, y Frances, una muyer culta, autora d'una comedia que más palantre llevó a escena'l so fíu.[4] Brenon estudió na St Paul's School y nel King's College de Londres. Empecipió la so carrera artística como direutor teatral, trabayando en númberos de vodevil xunto a la so muyer, Helen Oberg.

Empezó la so carrera cinematográfica en Independent Moving Pictures, debutando en 1911 como guionista. Al añu siguiente pasó a la direición, trabayando tamién como actor. A lo llargo de la so carrera actuó en 22 filmes, dirixó 128, y escribió'l guión de 58. Tuvo la oportunidá de dirixir a intérpretes de la talla de King Baggot, Annette Kellerman, Pola Negri, Ronald Apinen, Lon Chaney, Loretta Young, Alice Joyce, Clara Bow, Anna May Wong y Norma Talmadge.

Ente les sos películes más notables figura Peter Pan (1924), primer adautación al cine de la obra teatral de J.M. Barrie, Beau Geste (1926), y Sorrell and Son (1927), filme pol cual foi nomáu al Óscar al meyor direutor en 1929.

Herbert Brenon finó en Los Angeles, California, en 1958, a los setenta y ocho años d'edá. Foi soterráu nun mausoléu priváu nel Campusantu Woodlawn del Bronx, Nueva York.
