Sydney Hamlets was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in then British colony of New South Wales was created in 1856 and abolished in 1859. The district was established in 1856 with the new parliament, consisting of the elected Legislative Assembly and an appointed Legislative Council, which replaced the unicameral Legislative Council in which 36 of the 54 members were elected and the other 18 were appointed[1][2]
