Lingnan University (LU or LingU or Lingnan) is a public liberal arts university in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong. It aims to provide students with an education in the liberal arts tradition[4] and has joined the Global Liberal Arts Alliance since 2012.[5] It has a rich heritage that dates back to its founding in Guangzhou in 1888. Known in its earlier years as Lingnan Xuexiao and subsequently as Lingnan University, the institution flourished in the field of higher education until 1952. It was reborn in Hong Kong in 1967.

Lingnan University has 3 faculties, 2 Schools, 16 departments, and numerous undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes comprising a broad range of disciplines in humanities, social sciences and business administrations. All undergraduates are required to take 27 credits of Core Curriculum courses, 18 credits of Chinese and English language courses, 48 credits of major courses and 27 credits of free elective courses.[6] Lingnan also offers a variety of taught masters, research masters and PhD programmes. Total students comprise more than 3,000 students.[7]
