The raspberry is the edible fruit of a multitude of plant species in the genus Rubus of the rose family, most of which are in the subgenus Idaeobatus.[1] The name also applies to these plants themselves. Raspberries are perennial with woody stems.[2]
World production of raspberries in 2021 was 886,538 tonnes, led by Russia with 22% of the total.[3] Raspberries are cultivated across northern Europe and North America and are eaten in various ways, including as whole fruit and in preserves, cakes, ice cream, and liqueurs.[4] They are a rich source of vitamin C, manganese, and dietary fiber.
