Behnaz Asayesh (Persian: بهناز جعفری; born 16 August 1975, in Tehran) is an Iranian actress.

Biography

Jafari was born in Tehran and graduated with a bachelor's degree in dramatic literature from the Islamic Azad University.[1]

Jafari first learned acting by attending classes at the School of Art and Literature for Children and Adolescents, where she studied under the guidance of Roya Teymorian, Farideh Sepah-Mansour, and Golab Adineh. She made her theater debut in 1993 with the play "The Snake King," directed by Golab Adineh.[2]

Jafari made her screen debut in 1995 in the film The Blue Veiled, directed by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad. In 1996-she made her television debut in the series Dust of Light. Jafari also explored radio dramas as an actress for a period of time.[2]

Jafari won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Supporting Actress for her role in A House Built on Water (2001).[1]

Jafari's performance in the film A House on Water, directed by Bahman Farmanara, earned her the Crystal Simorgh for Best Supporting Actress at the 20th Fajr Film Festival.[2]

Illness

Since March 2015, after experiencing symptoms and undergoing medical evaluation, Behnaz Jafari has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).[2][3]
