E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase CCNB1IP1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the CCNB1IP1 gene.[5][6]
HEI10 is a member of the E3 ubiquitin ligase family and functions in progression of the cell cycle through G(2)/M.[supplied by OMIM][6] It is considered a housekeeping gene.
During meiosis, crossing over between homologous chromosomes (homologs) facilitates accurate chromosome segregation.[7] In mammals, the ring-domain protein CCNB1IP1, also known as HEI10, promotes crossing over between each pair of homologs during meiosis.[7] Studies in the mouse showed that this pro-crossover ring-domain protein facilitates the homologous recombination and DNA repair processes that produce crossovers.[7]
