Jaina school of mathematics

The Jain school of mathematics is a school of mathematics whose members are distinguished by the fact that they are followers of the Jain religion.^[1][2]

All members of the Jain school of mathematics are also members of the larger community of Indian mathematicians. The mathematics developed by this school forms a subset of the body of mathematical knowledge developed in India since ancient times. However, certain aspects of the cosmological and philosophical speculations of the Jain religion has impacted the mathematical thinking of the adherents of the Jain religion. As an example, one can site the fascination of the Jains (followers of the Jain religion) for very large numbers and their speculations relating to the concept of infinity.^{[citation needed]}
