In 2013, since the American singer, songwriter, and actress Ariana Grande has released her debut album Yours Truly[1], she performed four concert tours, three of which were worldwide.[2] She has also performed at various award shows, music festivals and television programmes.[3]
Grande promoted her debut album Yours Truly in 2013[4] and 2014[5] at the Wango Tango and the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.[6] Her first concert tour, The Listening Sessions (2013), visited North America[7] and grossed over $679,360.[8] Grande also served as an opening act for Justin Bieber on selected dates of his Believe Tour in 2013 in Florida for 3 nights.[9] Grande's first world tour, The Honeymoon Tour (2015)[10] promoted her second studio album, My Everything.[11] The 88 show tour visited North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.[11] The tour grossed $41.8 million, with a total attendance of 808,667.[12]
Grande's Dangerous Woman Tour, from February 2017 to September 2017, visited North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Oceania.[13] In December 2017, several media sources reported that the tour had grossed over $71 million.[14] On May 22, 2017, a terrorist attack occurred at Grande's concert at the Manchester Arena in the United Kingdom, now known as the Manchester Arena bombing.[15] In response, Grande performed a benefit concert named One Love Manchester.[16] The 50,000-capacity venue sold out within 20 minutes.[17] It took place at Old Trafford Cricket Ground,[18] and was attended by 55,000 people. Guest stars included, Coldplay,[18] Take That, Imogen Heap, Pharrell Williams, Robbie Williams, U2 and Liam Gallagher, among others.[19][20][21]
On August 8, 2018, Grande announced The Sweetener Sessions, a promotional tour for her fourth studio album, Sweetener (2018).[22] The concert series had three stops in North America and a fourth one in London.[23][24] Later that month, Grande announced on Good Morning America that the Sweetener tour was scheduled to begin in February 2019.[25] However, Grande postponed the tour due to severe "illness".[26] In October 2018, Grande announced her fourth concert tour, the Sweetener World Tour, in support of both her fourth studio album, Sweetener (2018), and her upcoming fifth studio album, Thank U, Next (2019).[27] It commenced in March 2019.[27] The Sweetener World Tour was attended by 1.3 million people and grossed $146.6 million from 97 shows, surpassing her previous concert tour, the Dangerous Woman Tour, as her highest-grossing tour to date.[28] In January 2019, it was announced that Grande was a headline act for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, becoming the youngest artist and the fourth female artist to headline the event.[29] Also, in February and March 2019, it was announced that Grande was a headline act for Manchester Pride[30] and Lollapalooza.[31]
Since her 2013 debut, Grande has featured in live performances with other artists across a range of genres. In 2014, Grande performed "Bang Bang" alongside Nicki Minaj and Jessie J at the MTV Video Music Awards and American Music Awards. Grande and Babyface performed a tribute to Stevie Wonder, covering his song "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours". They performed the song at the "Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life" concert in 2015, a television special saluting Wonder.[32] Grande would later feature alongside Wonder on The Voice series finale performing his single "Faith".[33] In 2020, Grande performed with Lady Gaga in Gaga's hit single "Rain on Me" at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards.[34] She performed with The Weeknd their hit song "Save Your Tears" together at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards. This was their debut television performance of the song, which had topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[35] On March 2, 2025, Grande and her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo opened the 97th Academy Awards ceremony with a medley of "Over the Rainbow", "Home", and "Defying Gravity".[36]
