Origins
The origins of Manuport Logistics can be traced to the establishment of Northern Shipping in 1926. Over the subsequent decades, Northern Shipping expanded its service offerings, progressively solidifying its position within the maritime logistics sector. In 1994, the company became NORFRAM Logistics, and started expanding its presence, marking a strategic movement toward international freight services. A separate entity, Hamann International, was founded in 1998. Seven years later, it opened a new office in São Paulo. In 2007, the merger of NORFRAM Logistics and Hamann International led to the start of Manuport Logistics.[2]

Perspective
Since its founding Manuport Logistics has expanded its global presence, establishing offices in more than 25 countries;[5] these include Brazil,[6] France, Germany, the UAE, the US,[6] and Singapore.[† 2] The Dubai office was established in 2005,[2] the Singapore office was established in 2014, and the Hamburg office was added in 2016. Since then, new offices have been created in locations including Santiago, Miami,[7] and Cape Town.
In March 2019, Manuport Logistics USA, its US subsidiary, received its first shipment. Since then, its number of bills of lading has increased to 261 in July 2025.[7] In February 2021, MPL founded their Spanish branch, which is headquartered in Paterna, Spain.[8] They followed this up by constructing a 16,000-square-metre (170,000 sq ft) warehouse in Valencia which opened in January 2023 to store paper and other products of forestry.[9]
The company absorbed Worldwide Logistics and Grupo Fleteval in February 2022.[8] In December 2022, MPL set up their office in Lima, Peru to support their services in South America but stated that they "already have experience in the region".[6] Manuport Road Transport, which focusses on cargo transportation across land, was founded in 2023. As well as being part of MPL's road operations and being supported by employees at the headquarters in Antwerp, it also generates its own commercial revenue.[8]
In October 2023, the company bought Dynasty Shipping Europe, through which they expanded their access to the Port of Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands. As part of the acquisition, MPL's Rotterdam branch grew from five to thirteen employees.[3] The same month, the company opened a new office in Casablanca, Morocco, having been operating there since July 2023. Having had significant operations in Europe, the company saw the new office as a milestone in expanding to the North African market as well.[10]
In July 2024, MPL joined The Cardinal Partnership, which is the world’s largest employee-owned logistics firm.[4] In November 2024, the company partnered with Pindar to launch a so-called "nautical logistics unit", allowing them to expand their sea-based operations.[11]
