Phosphoinositide-3-kinase-interacting protein 1 (PIK3IP1) is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PIK3IP1 gene.[4][5]
PIK3IP1 is a transmembrane protein that binds to PI3K, reducing signal to the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway.[6] Through this mechanism, PIK3IP1 inhibits cell proliferation in tumor cells and is associated with cancer. PIK3IP1 is also associated with the inflammatory response and autoimmune diseases.[6]
