History

Perspective

In October 2016, the Ateneo de Manila University was granted a temporary broadcast permit by the National Telecommunications Commission with its broadcast equipment donated by Ateneo alumnus and KBP Corporate Secretary Jose Yabut.[1]

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, the station began its test broadcast under the name Ateneo Campus Radio.[5] On February 14, 2018, it had its soft launch as Radyo Katipunan, coinciding both Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day. This time, it is jointly run by ADMU and JesCom.[1]

Launch

On August 28, 2018, Radyo Katipunan was officially launched, with the addition of simulcasting (another Catholic-run station) Veritas 846 during mornings. In addition, the station provided news updates from Rappler and Voice of America.[6]

Pandemic and Keep the Faith

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Radyo Katipunan launched its own daily morning mass and named it "Keeping the Faith" or KTF. The mass then became "Keep the Faith: Daily Mass for Hope and Healing" before changing its subtitle to "Daily Mass with the Jesuits". Apart from the Easter Triduum, KTF airs every day of the year even when Radyo Katipunan is off air. Even with the lifting of restrictions and return to onsite activity, KTF still garners a devoted following online.

KTF began broadcasting from the station's studio; it could do so since all other programs were being conducted online. The mass then moved to JesCom's Studio A, its group recording studio, before finally moving to its own studio in 2023.
