The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is a mid-range luxury Android smartphone in Samsung's Galaxy A series. It was announced on March 17, 2022, at a Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy A33 5G and A53 5G.[6][7]

The Galaxy A73 5G is a smartphone with a slate-type factor form, which is 159.6 mm × 74.8 mm × 8.1 mm in size and weighs 189 grams.[1]
The device is equipped with GSM, HSPA, LTE and 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.A/b/g/n/ac/ax dual-band with Bluetooth 5 Wi-Fi Direct support and hotspot support.0 with A2DP and LE, GPS with BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS and QZSS and NFC. It has a USB-C 2.0 port and no 3.5 mm audio jack input. It is resistant to water and powder with IP67 certification.
Display
It has a 6.7-inch diagonal touchscreen, Super AMOLED+ Infinity-O, rounded corners and FHD+ resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels. The screen supports a 120 Hz refresh rate. For screen protection it uses Gorilla Glass 5.[8]
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G has a high-capacity 5000 mAh lithium polymer battery. This battery supports fast 25-watt charging technology.
Processor
The chipset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G with an octagonal CPU (4 cores at 2.4 GHz + 4 cores at 1.8 GHz). UFS type 2 internal memory. 1 is 128/256 GB expandable with microSD up to 1 TB, while the RAM is 6 or 8 GB (depending on the version chosen).[8]
Camera
The rear camera has a 108 MP main sensor with an f/1.8 opening, equipped with a PDAF, OIS, HDR mode and a flash LED mode, capable of recording up to 4K to 30 frames per second; while the front camera is a single 32 MP camera with a same recording capacity.[9][8]
Software
The device comes with the Android 12 operating system pre-installed, which is the latest version of Android available at the time of its release. Android 12 is known for its sleek design, intuitive interface, and improved privacy and security features.
In addition to Android 12, the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G also comes with One UI 4.1, which is Samsung's proprietary user interface. One UI 4.1 is designed to provide a seamless and user-friendly experience for Samsung device users. It includes features such as split-screen multitasking, a customizable home screen, and improved battery life management.
The first One UI upgrade for this and other devices was Android 13 with One UI 5.1 in November 2022.[10] It includes even more advanced features and improvements over its predecessor. One UI 5.1 followed three months later, and also includes enhancements and optimizations for the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G.
The One UI 6 update based on Android 14 began rolling out to the A33, A53 and A73 on November 27, 2023.[11] This includes a redesigned quick panel with a new button layout, improved access to the brightness settings and a new notification layout that allows sorting by time. Also included are a new default font, called One UI Sans, new emojis and an improved multitasking experience. One UI 6.1 followed later on June 25, 2024.[12] Features coming to all applicable devices include enhanced battery protection designed to prevent battery degradation, SuperHDR for photos in the Gallery and on social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat, and the option to show the lock screen wallpaper on Always On Display.
The device will receive the update to One UI 7 based on Android 15 during the summer of 2025.
Software lifecycle
On April 2, 2022, the A33, A53 and A73 alongside a selection of other Samsung Galaxy devices, were announced to receive 4 Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates.[13]
