Club career

Contessa made his Serie C debut for Fidelis Andria on 4 September 2011 in a game against Spezia.^[2]

On 15 January 2019, he signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Feralpisalò.^[3]

On 20 January 2020, he moved to Catanzaro on a one-and-a-half-year contract.^[4]

On 9 July 2021, he returned to Reggiana on a two-year contract.^[5]

On 27 August 2022, Contessa signed a two-year contract with Turris.^[6]

On 28 August 2024, Contessa moved to Taranto.^[7]

On 10 January 2025, he joined to Monopoli.^[8]
