Etymology
Pronunciation
Suffix
-anon (Badlit spelling ᜀᜈᜓᜈ᜔)
- forms adjectives from noun roots
- having the characteristic of the noun root
- (with place nouns) from or of that place
Usage notes
- There are many exceptions to affixing:
- Usually, if the root word ends in a consonant, the form -non is used instead.
- If the root word ends in the vowel /a/ followed by a glottal stop, the latter is removed and the form -n-on is used instead.
- If the root word ends in a vowel without a glottal stop, one of the forms -hanon, -nhon, or -anon is used. Some roots can even do with two or all of these forms.
