From Proto-Brythonic *-haɣjed, from Proto-Celtic *-sagyetor. Cognate with Breton -aat, Irish -igh, Manx -ee, Scottish Gaelic -ich, and Welsh -hau.

Usage notes

  • Verbs ending in this suffix are conjugated differently from other verbs. Most notably, the stem in the subjunctive becomes -hah-. For example, glanhaho is the third-person singular conjunctive form of glanhe (to clean), and not *glanno.
  • Additionally, all verbs ending in this suffix receive final stress.
