Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Baltic *dumblás, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewbʰ- (“deep”) via nasal infixation. Cognate with Latvian dumbla (dialectal), dubļi pl (“mud”), perhaps further akin to Proto-Slavic *dǫbъ (“oak”).
