From the bound morpheme ot- (“October”) (which was later superseded in New Volapük by the bound morpheme tob-) + -ul (“month”), a bound morpheme (functioning as a suffix) derived from the free morpheme mul (“month”); from either English October or German Oktober, and ultimately from Latin Octōber.
