Etymology
From German Ziege, from Middle High German zige, from Old High German ziga, from Proto-West Germanic *tigā. Compare Old Armenian տիկ (tik, “wineskin”), Albanian dhi (“she-goat”), Ishkashimi [script needed] (dec, “goatskin bag”), and further German Zicke, which is cognate with English tick (“goat”).
