Fondita de la Feminisma Esperanta Movado (FEM), per financa help-kontribuo de Kep Enderby[1], la unua numero aperis en marto 2005, kaj ekde tiam regule la revuo aperadas kun trimonata kadenco.
La unuan jaron ĉefredaktis Agneta Emanuelsson kaj helpis grafike Malvina Monteggia. De 2006 ĝis 2015 ĉefredaktis Perla Martinelli kaj helpis grafike Rolfo Ernst (kovriloj ĝis 2012). En 2016, ĝis fariĝis nur reta gazeto kaj poste ĉesis aperi.
La revuon posedas FEM, eldonas kaj administras Kooperativo de Literatura Foiro (LF-koop), kadre de kontrakto. Ĝi estas la sola feminisma periodaĵo en esperanto, kun interesaj kaj foje altnivelaj artikoloj, ofte dosieroj (pri Virinoj kaj Islamo, pri Virinoj en literaturo, pri Filozofio kaj Virinoj, ktp).
La redakta linio de Femina kongruas kun la strategio de FEM[2].
