Matrix Software se fait notamment connaitre en 1997 avec Alundra, un Action-RPG en 2D sorti sur PlayStation. L'entreprise est également célèbre pour ses remakes de Final Fantasy III et Final Fantasy IV sortis sur Nintendo DS.
