Jimmy Breslin, né le à Jamaica (Queens, New York) et mort le à Manhattan (New York)[1], est un journaliste et romancier américain.

Biographie
Breslin naît le 17 octobre 1928[2] dans une famille catholique irlandaise à Jamaica, dans le Queens, à New York. Son père, James Earl Breslin, un pianiste alcoolique, sort un jour pour acheter des rouleaux et ne revient jamais. Breslin et sa sœur, Deirdre, ont été élevés par leur mère, Frances (Curtin), professeur de lycée et enquêtrice du service social de la ville de New York, pendant la Grande Dépression aux États-Unis[3],[4],[5].
Breslin fréquente la Long Island University de 1948 à 1950. Il quitte l'université sans avoir obtenu de diplôme[6].
