阿部宗明

阿部 宗明（あべ ときはる、1911年4月3日 - 1996年8月9日）は、日本の魚類学者。とりわけ東アジアのフグの分類に関する業績を残している。1949年にフグ科の属としてトラフグ属を提案している。この他、数々の新種を発見し、また、献名も多く受けている。『日本産魚類図説』の編纂に第49巻より携わる。

経歴

1911年（明治44年）4月3日、東京の田端に生まれる^[1]。1919年（大正8年）、家族で台湾に移住する^[1]。1932年（昭和7年）に台北高等学校を卒業後、魚類学の道に進むため上京して東京帝国大学理学部動物学科に入学する^[1]。田中茂穂に師事する^[2]。1935年（昭和10年）、同学科を卒業し、東京帝国大学理学部大学院に進学する^[3]。1940年（昭和15年）、東京帝国大学理学部大学院を修了し、東京帝国大学理学部動物学科研究生となる^[3]。

1947年（昭和22年）、農林省水産試験場に勤務する^[3]。1949年（昭和24年）、農林省東海区水産研究所に勤務する^[3]。1952年（昭和27年）、学位論文「日本近海産マフグ科魚類の分類学的研究」で東京大学から理学博士を授与される^[3]。1960年（昭和35年）、農林省東海区水産研究所資源部主任研究官に就任する^[3]。1977年（昭和52年）、農林省東海区水産研究所を退職する^[3]。同年、海洋水産資源開発センターに勤務する^[4]。

1981年（昭和56年）、おさかな普及センター資料館館長に就任する^[5][4]。

1996年（平成8年）8月9日、脳内出血のため、東京の病院で死去^[1]。

学名への影響

ハダカカスミザメ（Centroscyllium kamoharai, 1966）、メフグ（Fugu obscurus, 1949, or Takifugu obscurus）などを命名する。トラフグ属（Takifugu, 1949）も阿部の提案である。

また、献名も多く受けており、ハナメイワシ（Sagamichthys abei Parr, 1953、阿部は発見者）、ミドリフサアンコウ（Chaunax abei Le Danois, 1978） 、Tetraodon abei Roberts, 1998（フグ科テトラオドン属 (Tetraodon) の一種）などの学名に名が入っている。
