Јужен Буг (украински: Південний Буг; руски: Южный Буг) — река сместена во Украина.[1]
Изворот на реката е во западниот дел на Украина, во Волинско-Подилската Висорамнина, околу 145 километри од полската граница, од каде тече кон југ во делтата на Буг (црноморски слив) низ јужните степи. Долга е 806 километри и покрива слив од 63.700 км².
Поголеми градови на Јужен Буг се: Хмељницки, Виница, Первомајск, Миколајв (подредени низводни, т.е. кон југ).

Херодотус е изведено од старогрчки: Хипанис (Hypanis).[2] Во текот на големата преселба на народите, Јужен Буг била важна пречка за сите племиња, кои се преселувале.
Локалното словенско име на реката било Бог, што било изведено од зборот богат (украински: багата). Славниот француски воен инженер и географ Гијом Левасер де Боплан ја именувал реката како Руски Буг (украински: Бог Руський).
Од 16 век, поголемиот дел на Јужна Украина била дел од Кримскиот канат и Отоманското Царство и била наречена Aq-su што означува Бела река.
Јужен Буг е руско име, кое било воспоставено за време на колонијалниот период на Украина. Името е сега прифатено како единствено.
На 6 март 1918, Централниот совет на Украина го донел законот „За административно-територијалната поделба на Украина“, со која Украина била поделена на повеќе земји. Една од овие земји во горниот тек на реката била именувана „Побожја“ (украински: Побожжя).
Реката е технички пловна на десетици километри од нејзиниот влив во Црното Море, каде постојат и неколку речни пристаништа (како што е Вознесенск).
Во 2011 биле објавени планови за обнова за пловење на Јужен Буг поради зголемување на извозот на житото од Украина.[3]
