അപ്പോളോ 16 1972 ഏപ്രിൽ 16 രാത്രി 11.24നു വിക്ഷേപിച്ചു. ജോൺ യംഗ്,ചാർളി ഡ്യുക്ക്,തോമസ് മാറ്റിംഗ്ലി എന്നിവരയിരുന്നു യാത്രികർ.ഏപ്രിൽ 21നു രാത്രി ഇന്ത്യൻ സമയം 10.26നു ജോൺ യംഗും ചാർളി ഡ്യുക്കും ചന്ദ്രനിലിറങ്ങി .20 മണിക്കൂറും 41 മിനിറ്റും ചന്ദ്രനിൽ ചെലവഴിച്ച് 95.3 കി.ഗ്രാം പാറയും മണ്ണും ശേഖരിച്ചു.ലൂണാർ റോവർ അപ്പോളോ-16 നും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.ഏപ്രിൽ 27നു അപ്പോളോ 16 പസഫിക് സമുദ്രത്തിൽ വന്നിറങ്ങി^[2].
