«Stress» deltok i Melodi Grand Prix 1968, den norske uttakinga til Eurovision Song Contest 1968 i London i Storbritannia. Songen vart framført på norsk av Kirsti Sparboe med eit lite orkester, og så på nytt av Odd Børre med eit stort orkester. Bidraget enda på andreplass med 14 poeng; eitt frå Ålesund og eitt frå Stavanger.[2][3] Vinnarsongen vart seinare anklaga for å vere plagiat av Cliff Richard-hiten «Summer Holiday», og låtskrivaren Kari Neegaard trekte attende songen før Eurovision Song Contest. Bidraget vart erstatta av «Stress», og dette er den fyrste og førebels einaste gongen vinnarsongen i Melodi Grand Prix ikkje har representert Noreg i Eurovision Song Contest.

Etter at vinnarsongen i Melodi Grand Prix 1968 vart trekt attende fekk «Stress» representere Noreg i Eurovision Song Contest 1968. Odd Børre framførte songen på norsk, og enda på 13. plass med to poeng; eitt frå Luxembourg og eitt frå Spania. Øivind Bergh var dirigent.
