Austkystrap er ei form for hiphop-musikk frå den nordaustlege delen av USA, og då hovudsakleg New York. Han oppstod i New York by på 1970-talet.[2]
Musikken her er som regel samplebasert med tekstmessig og/eller teknisk komplisert rapping over.[3]
