Ashanti er en administrativ region midt i Ghana. Flesteparten av regionens innbyggere er ashantier, én av Ghanas største etniske grupper. Store deler av landets kakao dyrkes i Ashanti, og regionen er også en viktig del av Ghanas gullgravingindustri. Regionen hadde 4 780 380 innbyggere ved folketellingen i 2010.[1]

Kumasi er administrasjonssenteret i Ashanti og er Ghanas nest største by. Den er kjent som The Garden City på grunn av den varierte floraen i området, og ligger i den sentrale delen av landet, omkring 250 km (kjørestrekning) fra Accra. Kumasi var fra slutten av det 17., gjennom det 18. århundre, hovedsenter for slavehandelen på Gullkysten. Alle slaverutene fra nord gikk mot Kumasi, og derfra gikk transportrutene videre ut til handelsfortene langs kysten.
