Rostov-on-Don (Roushie: Росто́в-на-Дону́ Rostov-na-Donu, pronounced [rɐˈstov nə dɐˈnu]) is the ceety an the admeenistrative centre o Rostov Oblast an the Soothren Federal Destrict o Roushie, locatit on the Don River, juist 46 km fre the Sea o Azov. Population: 1,068,267 (2002 Census);[8] 1,019,305 (1989 Census).[9]

The centre o Rostov-on-Don is locatit c. 1076 km (2006) sootheast frae Moscow. It is situatit tae the sootheast frae the East European Plain, maistly on the richt bank o the Don river, 46 km frae its confluence wi the Sea o Azov. Sooth-Wastren suburbs o the ceety side wi the delta o the Don river.
