The search involved many internet users from around the world trying to find out the artist and the title of a new wave song that played on a German radio station in 1984 and was uploaded online in 2007.[1] In 2024, after 17 years of searching, the song title and artist were finally found. Everyone Knows That

In 2021, a user called carl92 uploaded a short 17-second clip of an unknown pop song to the website WatZatSong. He said that he found the song on a DVD backup from 1999, but he didn’t remember the source (where the song was from). Many people wanted to find the song (nicknamed “Everyone Knows That”, after lyrics in the song), so a Reddit community called r/everyoneknowsthat was made, which gained over 35,000 members. In April 2024, Reddit users discovered that Christopher and Phillip Booth made the song. The real title of the song was “Ulterior Motives” and users found it in a 1980s adult movie called Angels of Passion.[2]
