The Main Event was a professional wrestling television special event that was produced by World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It ran from February 5, 1988 until February 1, 1991. There were five events in total. It was a spin-off of the WWF's other event Saturday Night's Main Event. The events were shown live on NBC with the last two events being taped and then airing on NBC.

The Main Event
The Main Event took place on February 5, 1988 at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was the first Main Event show that World Wrestling Federation produced. The event set American televised wrestling records for viewers. Around 33 million people tuned into the show and it peaked at a 15.2 Nielsen rating.[1]
The Main Event II
The Main Event II was an event that took place on February 3, 1989 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was the second Main Event show that World Wrestling Federation produced.
The Main Event III
The Main Event III took place on February 23, 1990 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. It was the third Main Event show that the World Wrestling Federation produced. Mike Tyson was supposed to appear on the show and serve as a special guest referee but plans changed after he got knocked out by Buster Douglas in Tokyo two weeks earlier.[4]
The Main Event IV
The Main Event IV took place on October 30, 1990 (aired on November 23) at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It was the fourth Main Event show that World Wrestling Federation produced.
The Main Event V
The Main Event V took place on January 28, 1991 (aired on February 1) at the Macon Coliseum in Macon, Georgia. It was the fifth and final Main Event show that World Wrestling Federation produced. The event set a new record for the worst rating during their time on NBC, with 10.6 million viewers and a 6.7 rating.[7]
