Xavier Bettel (born 3 March 1973) is a Luxembourgish politician and lawyer. He was the 24th Prime Minister of Luxembourg from 2013 to 2023. He replaced Jean-Claude Juncker. He has served as Mayor of Luxembourg City, member of the Chamber of Deputies and member of the Luxembourg City communal council.[1][2] Bettel is a member of the Democratic Party.

Bettel is openly gay.[3] He is one of three openly gay world leaders in office, the others being Leo Varadkar, the prime minister of Ireland;[4] and Ana Brnabić, the Prime Minister of Serbia.
