Mesto je obľúbeným turistickým cieľom, predovšetkým vďaka svojej výhodnej polohe na pobreží Jadranského mora, priaznivej stredomorskej klíme a historickému jadru mesta, ktoré si dosiaľ uchovalo historický ráz stredovekých a renesančných benátskych miest. V okolí sa nachádza 22 ostrovov.
