翼型(airfoil)或稱翼剖面,是指機翼、風帆、螺旋槳、旋翼、渦輪的橫截面形狀。翼型可以改變力的方向,例如可以把平行方向的推力轉換為升力,或是將水平方向的旋轉力矩轉換為垂直方向的推力。

翼型的升力主要來自翼型的形狀和迎角(或稱之為攻角),有合適的迎角的翼型會對來流產生擾動,由此產生一個與擾動相反方向的力,稱之為氣動力。氣動力可以被分解為升力和阻力,與來流方向垂直的合力稱之為升力,與來流方向平行的的合力稱之為阻力。大多數翼型需要在正的迎角下才產生升力,但是有彎度翼型在迎角為0的情況下也能產生升力。來流在受到擾動後,在翼型表面附近出現了彎曲的流線,因此在翼型的兩個表面產生了不同的壓力。根據伯努利定律,在流速快的地方壓力小,流速慢的地方壓力大,因此,可以根據上下表面的流速差來計算翼型的升力。實際上,引入環量的概念後,根據庫塔-儒可夫斯基定理就可以計算出翼型的升力。
