Mae'r Ddraig Wen yn hen symbol sy'n cynrychioli Lloegr a/neu'r Saeson, neu Wessex (sylfaen Teyrnas Lloegr). I'r Cymry mae'r delwedd o'r ddraig goch a'r ddraig wen yn ymaflyd a'i gilydd yn cynrychioli'r frwydr rhwng y Saeson a'r Cymry am Ynys Brydain, hanes a geir am y tro cyntaf yn yr Historia Brittonum gan Nennius (tua 800 OC). Lleolir y frwydr fytholegol dan sylfeini Dinas Emrys yn Eryri; mae'r dewin ifanc, Myrddin, yn esbonio i'r brenin Gwrtheyrn arwyddocâd yr ymladd, sy'n dymchwel y castell mae'r brenin yn ceisio adeiladu. Ar ôl blynyddoedd maith o ymladd, y Ddraig Goch fydd yn ennill y dydd.
Mae grwp pagan yng Ngogledd America yn defnyddio'r delwedd hefyd. Mae blog gan Petroc ap Seisyllt wrth yr enw (ac hefyd wrth yr enw Saesneg White Dragon); pwrpas y blog hwn yw ymgyrchu am hawliau ieithyddol i'r Cymry sy'n byw yn Lloegr.[1][2]
