Der Sender unterhält eine Partnerschaft mit dem Sender RTÉ, agiert aber sonst unabhängig. 2007 wurde TG4 in die Europäische Rundfunkunion aufgenommen. Seit 2015 wählt der Sender Irlands Beitrag beim Junior Eurovision Song Contest.[1]
