Bandera de la Comunidad de Madrid: Su fondo rojo intenso simboliza a Castilla, de la que la Comunidad de Madrid se considera parte, en sentido abstracto, mientras que las siete estrellas son las de la constelación de la Osa Mayor, geométricamente dispuestas, las cuales han sido tomadas de entre los símbolos que utilizaba el antiguo concejo madrileño, ya desde tiempos medievales. De esa forma, la bandera de la Comunidad de Madrid funde en un único elemento un concepto superior a ella (Castilla) y otro más interior (la Villa de Madrid), siendo tanto uno como el otro los que le dan verdadero sentido, sin mayores pretensiones.
