Lev Vasilyevich Shubnikov (Russian: Лев Васи́льевич Шу́бников, Ukrainian: Лев Васильович Шубников; 29 September 1901 – 10 November 1937) was a Soviet experimental physicist who worked in the Netherlands and USSR. He has been referred as the as 'the founding father of Soviet low-temperature physics'.[1] He is know for the discovery of the Shubnikov–de Haas effect and type-II superconductivity.[1] He also one of the first to discover antiferromagnetism.[2]
