Volodarsky District (Russian: Волода́рский райо́н; Kazakh: Володар ауданы, Volodar audany) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the eleven in Astrakhan Oblast, Russia. It is located in the south of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,883 square kilometers (1,499 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a settlement) of Volodarsky.[1] Population: 47,825 (2010 Russian census);[3] 47,351 (2002 Census);[6] 46,638 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of the administrative center accounts for 20.9% of the district's total population.[3]
