History
Prior to the 1997 general election, the GRC was expanded to a five member GRC from four member GRC.
During the 2025 general election, the GRC saw it's first three way contest between incumbent PAP, People's Power Party (PPP) and new party Singapore United Party (SUP).[1] The PAP team, led by Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, won the contest with almost 79 percent of the vote with the other two parties receiving around 10 percent each.[2] For failing to secure at least 12.5 percent of the votes, both PPP and SUP forfeited their election deposits.[2]
