The Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan[1] was the official name of the country that is now modern-day Jordan from May 25, 1946, to June 17, 1946, and again from May 1946 to April 1949. It was a British protectorate, led by the Hashemite dynasty, which evolved into the modern-day Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The name change to "Jordan" occurred after the kingdom annexed the West Bank and united both banks of the Jordan River in 1949.

In 1946, Jordan became an independent state officially known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan, but was renamed in 1949 to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan after the country captured the West Bank during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and annexed it until it was lost to Israel in 1967.

After The Emirate of Transjordan gained independence from the United Kingdom, They became the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan in May 25, 1946[1]. In 1949, the country was renamed to The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
